Winter Wonderland!!

Well, as much as it is a sure is pretty!! It snowed here over the weekend but not too much and it just slowly melted. Early this AM we woke to chatty patty (lily in her crib) and lightening and thunder...oh and SNOW. Did you know it could lightening and thunder for snow? It was a pretty decent downpour and it keeps coming. We had to cancel our plans to go to Portland for a few days to have early Christmas with the Portland peeps. Now for those of you in the midwest or east, who deal with this every day, let me explain a few things about Seattle. First, this doesn't happen that often. Second we have big hills. Third, because we are so "green" the city does not salt the roads, they plow main roads and sand but no salt. Therefore the snow falls, people don't know how to drive in it, and it slushes around then freezes to solid ice. Fun huh? Alex takes the bus to work so he has been able to get in..although I am thinking tomorrow will be an ice block so a "work at home day" might be in order. They have pre-empted all TV shows to do "weather watch" news for 8 hours straight. Oh well I need to clean anyway. Here are a few pics from our house and of our adventure walk to greenlake. Lily was pretty unimpressed, although she did giggle a little. She has taken to true belly laughs and high pitch screams....for Winston only!! Nice huh? We get a few courtesy laughs here and there but nothing like the dog gets out of her.
Winsty guards the house from Frosty the snowman.
Down at the lake. Lots of walkers who didn't make it to work or school.
Braving the snow. So beautiful. Lily's cheeks were super rosy!
Winsty tries to catch a snowflake in his mouth. He is so clever. He actually LOVED the snow and would have walked/played all day.
He saves some snow in his ears and paws to melt in the house. He actually tried to chew the snowballs out of his paws! Silly pup. He is now curled up on the couch as I sip my pumpkin spice coffee and baby sleeps!
Lily tries to do her first snow angel.
Winter is beautiful...oh wait, it is still Fall for one more day.

Santa is Chinese!!

We took Lily to see Santa downtown this week. We went to the one near where Alex works so he could come over on his lunch break and see. The Nordstroms (flagship store) has Santa in the front window. She did good and was happy to sit on his lap. She told him what she wants and Mrs. Claus gave her a candy cane. We are all pretty confident she is on the nice list. I guess Chinese Santa's have white fluffy beards as well. Do you think the Chinese kids mind we borrowed him?

HO! HO! HO! Merry Christmas to you all!! Lily and Mommy are going to Portland this week with Cousin Meagan to see Owen and Charlie for an early Christmas!! Yippeee!!

Lily is 5 months!

Time is FLYING by!! She is such a big girl. She is learning her voice, translation, she is learning to scream! Real fun when you are in public. Here are a few video clips. She is also eating now! Rice cereal, carrots and now pears. Such a good life isn't it? She did get her hands on a candy cane (a prop for Christmas photos) but the wrapper ruined her first taste of the good stuff! She has also reached a milestone that makes us very happy, she is sleeping through the night! We are gearing up for the holidays and our trip to England.

Poor Wrigley, he was sick all week and ended up having emergency surgery. He swallowed yarn and was very sick!! He is mending now, lucky dog!! No eating yarn!!Friday, Alex went to work and the rest of us played! Our tradition, making a gingerbread house.A good result I think!Saturday Alex and I took all the kids on a Goonies style treasure hunt! Boy was that fun!! Here is the start of the hunt with the map and all the clues.A tunnel on the hunt. Good thing Owen read all the clues well.About half way we stopped for a fruit leather and a break.Lily enjoyed the hike, it sure wore her out!
