Family Time

It has been a big week around the Davis household. Lots of playing and hard work. Grandma and Grandpa England are going to need a serious vacation after their visit here!

The sweetest little tiny peeling fingers! Our wide awake time exploring our world.
Such a gorgeous sweet face, but I am not biased at ALL!
Do you think someone might like having dad home from work and G&G here? Oh and after a ride down the zip line....more, more, more is all we heard.
One of the many silly faces of big sister!
Story time in Gemma's room.No one wants to miss out.
What is this face? This is her push face, trying to close the lid on a toy.
Where are rest of the pictures of G&G? We have kept them so busy with chores there is hardly a moment to rest! Don't worry, it hasn't been all work and no play. They did get to take Lily to the zoo. We are also giving them a night off this weekend to celebrate their 39th wedding anniversary! We're kind to our helpers like that. Oh and while they are out we are shredding their plane tickets home.

G is for .... GEMMA!!

After nine months of eager anticipation we are proud to announce the arrival of Gemma Grace Davis. Born September 24, 2010 at 9:47 PM. She is such a good girl she arrived right on her due date, weighing 7 lbs 6 oz and 20 inches long. She was born a mere 4 1/2 hours after we arrived the hospital and we were thrilled to be able to go home the next afternoon. She surprised us by being smaller than her sister (Lily was 7lbs 12oz and 20 inches). She was estimated to be 7lbs 10 oz at her ultrasound a full 10 days before she was born so we thought she might be near 8lbs. A petite surprise!

She has a very petite face with a different shape than Lily and different nose. We haven't decided who she looks like, any ideas folks?
Not the best photo but below is Lily at hospital on the day she was born.Lily came to the hospital the next morning with Grandma and Grandpa England. She was very happy to see Mama and interested to meet "baby sister". So far she is doing great. She has some interest in Gemma but is not overly smothering. She likes to hold her for about a minute and then quickly bores as sister doesn't really do much at this point.
We are quickly adjusting to life as a family of four!! Stay tuned for more photos as our first week with Gemma continues. Thank you all for your warm congratulations and well wishes. We are getting just enough sleep and lots of snuggles!

Preschool

Lily started preschool last week. We were so concerned she would have a hard time with preschool since she had separation anxiety in other situations recently. Well, she surprised us once again. She LOVES preschool. She only cried when we had to leave after open house night. From then on she has squealed with delight when we pull up to the school. She runs right in without looking back. She still gets a little sad when she has to leave at the end of the day. I hope it lasts and she continues to love school!

Here is a photo from the first day. She was less than thrilled to pose for photos. This is the best I could get!
Her teachers gave us this little "report card" and photo. I just love it.

It is hard to tell what they do in school and what she likes since getting info out of a two year old is a challenge. It is nice to know she has fun and is a good girl.

I have been enjoying my 2 1/2 hours of free time twice a week as well. You quickly forget how nice it is to enjoy an uninterrupted cup of coffee or child free trip to the grocery store.

1 week

One week to go and I thought I would post a little baby update! Creepy 3-D photos included!

Here is a foot, even Lily could tell what this one is, even though she is still generally clueless about the whole situation.

Here is her face. She had her hands over her face the whole time, another shy one. Lily came out with her hand on her face so maybe she will be the same.

So we had an ultrasound today after several weeks of my Dr visits where I was measuring a few weeks smaller than my real date. They wanted to check my amniotic fluid levels. They are about 30% lower than normal but nothing to be concerned about and nothing that could be harmful to the baby. She measured normal size for gestation, on track for her due date and a guess weight of 7lbs 10oz this week. Lily was 7lbs 12 oz so not far off! Lets hope she arrives on time or she will only get bigger!

Cant wait to meet her in person!
