Party like your Four on the 4th!

We knew when we moved into our new house we wanted to be here for the Fourth of July in hopes of seeing some fireworks from our backyard. We decided to hold a small BBQ here on the fourth and celebrate Lily's fourth birthday! Too bad the neighborhood that our backyard faces holds their fireworks show on the 3rd!!! It wasn't a big deal since the marine layer was really heavy and fog kept anyone from seeing much on the 3rd or 4th anyway. We had a great time without a big show.
Lily and Winsty wasted no time getting in the spirit.
The birthday girl in her patriotic gear. She was so excited for her party!
We played a little golf, and blew bubbles.
We did some party poppers and snap dragons with our friends. Thanks to Grandma Nini we had patriotic table cloths and mom and pops have us lots of flags and decor.
Lily helped make her cupcakes. White cake and white frosting and she did all the decorating herself.

Dad did the burgers and brats on the grill. They were all really good. I'm pretty sure no one left hungry.
Look at the spread! We had watermelon, asian slaw, fruit skewers, red, white and blue jello, and corn on the cob. I made "cooler corn" which was a success. No one had ever heard of it before. You put the ears of corn in a clean igloo cooler and cover it with boiling water. Close the lid, and 30 minutes later you have perfectly cooked corn for 20! It also stays hot and ready to heat for up to 2 hours.
 Little Gemsy loves some corn.
Finally time for more gifts. She was all about the gifts by this time. All the girls were so sweet and had fun playing together.
Then we did some sparklers while we waited for the sun to set. All the kids had a great time.
Gemma loved it and had no fear. What? You shouldn't give a 21 month old fire on a stick? Glad to report nothing was set on fire and no one was hurt.
The men did some chilling and beer drinking.
We strung lights and streamers on our fence. They were so pretty and festive. Don't come over next month because they will probably be still up. If Christmas rolls around and I haven't taken them down I will just cut off the blue part and call it Christmas decor!
I just love Fourth of July and hope next year we get to see some big fireworks in the sky! Thanks to everyone who came and made it such a fun day for Lily.
