Pofahls do Disney

Well, you can't let friends come to town and not take them to the happiest place on earth!! They had already been to Disney World so they were no strangers to the experience.
We did manage to freak Charlotte and Elias out from the start on Snow White and didn't make it through Mr Toads.
The carousel is more their speed. Gemma tries it hands free!
Who doesn't love the tea cups.
The tiny tots gave Kristen a wild time.
We made some time for a glance in the mad hatter shop. Always fun.
We were able to experience the new Princess Faire. We caught the Tangled show.
It was entertaining for both kids and adults. Really funny!
The new Fantasy Faire is where the Princess meet and greet is. We were able to meet Sleeping Beauty.
She was so kind and elegant.
Elias had himself a little crush and needed a snuggle.
Then the surprise Princess was Ariel! We have not had a chance to meet her before and Lily was thrilled.
More autographs for Lily's book.
Gemma has taken to posing with the Princesses with her hands folded under her chin. So funny.
Lastly we met Cinderella.
This is one happy group! It was well worth the short wait and they all got to spend some time chatting with the princesses.
We couldn't move on without a pose with sleeping beauty's castle.
We made our way to Nemo's submarine. It is always a hit. Charlotte was hiding behind Lily's back and Gemma was shouting, "the shark is coming". I am sure the rest of the submarine was thrilled to be aboard with us!
After a stop for lunch we were getting warm so we decided a loop around the park on the train was in order. By the time we made it back to our stop the line to small world was almost empty! Perfect planning.
After a rejuvenating ice cream we were ready to wait in line to meet the fairies. We were happy to see it was Iridessa. We haven't met her before either.

She and Gemma had some deep conversations. All the fairies were very curious about Gemma and Elias' blankies. They wanted to know what they were called and why. Don't even get us started on that one.
Lucky for us all, around the corner was Tinkerbell herself.
She was allowed to play with Elias' woobies. Like I said, don't get us started on Wooby and Ka-Ka Yum!
Hugs all around for our fave fairy.
Striking their best fairy pose. What a cute bunch.
We managed to run into Pluto down on main street. Gemma continues her sweet poses. Elias was happy to ham it up for the Princesses and Fairies but get him near a giant animal character, no way. Smart guy.
We made it to Frontierland for some more rides and the Tarzan tree house. I think we were all getting pretty weary by now. It was late afternoon and no one had even closed an eye in the strollers all day.
We made our way back to main street to catch a few more of the classics. Goofy is always entertaining.
Elias remained safely in his mom's arms.
We did not let Mickey slip through our fingers this time. He is the big man and got extra but hugs.
Even Elias seemed to be warming up to him.
Last but not least was Minnie Mouse. She got an honored touch from Elias. A little tickle on the nose.
One last group hug before heading out!
We decided to stop for dinner close to the park before heading home. The kids were still pretty chipper and we hoped on full bellies they would sleep all the way home.
Ha! Joke was on us. Our day of endless fun backfired and they all goofed around on the way home! Only Gemma fell asleep for the last half of the drive. Oh well, you just have to laugh about it and that is what Kristen and I did in the front the whole way home!

Beach bums

Some of my best memories are of going to the beach and I really hope to make those kind of memories for my kids too. I remember going to Zuma beach in the summers with Kristen so it was only fitting that we take the kids there for the day. It was gorgeous weather. The lifeguard mentioned the water temps were about 10 degrees warmer than usual for this time of year. No complaints here.

Gemma was the water baby this day. She wanted to spend the whole time splashing and chasing the waves. No fear.

Elias and Gemma had a good game of catch going. He would throw it and she would fetch it and throw back. I think he was not fond of the hot sand under his feet.
That, and he had sand all over his hands and is a finger sucker. Poor guy. It didn't stop him though. The fingers went right in and Kristen and I could not stand the sound of the crunch of sand in his teeth. Oh well, he lived.

These two beach babes spent the whole day collecting shells, building sand castles and digging for crabs. They had to scream and squeal at the crabs of course too.
There was a lot of this too. Snacks and sandwiches taste so much better at the beach!

Pofahl family...come on down!

A couple of months ago the most wonderful thing happened. My best friend since fourth grade, Kristen, and her family moved to northern California!! We have only been separated across the country since we were 15 years old! Now we are both back in California and even though it is a 6 hour drive, that is nothing we can't handle. Her husband was going on a business trip so she made the long drive down with the kids to spend a few nights with us!!
They arrived after bed time so when the kids all woke up and saw each other the party began. They went straight for the trampoline.  Charlotte is now 5 and she and Lily had a great time. Even Gemma got in on the action.
Speaking of parties. We just happened to have two birthday parties to attend that day. The first one was a school mate of Lily's. Alex and Kristen headed off to the zoo for the morning with the kids and I took Lily to Olivia's Dollhouse Tearoom for the school party.
The place is a bit overwhelming. Each girl gets to pick a beautiful dress to wear and accessorize, then the assistants paint their nails and do fancy hair-do's. Lily chose bright purple nails since that is new new favorite color. Red lasted a couple of years so we will see how purple fares.
They got to explore the dressing area and await the big fashion show. They had a huge pink chaise lounge. Doesn't every girl need one of these.
The presents were placed under a pink Christmas tree. There is something on every little inch of the walls and ceilings.
Once all the girls were made up they prepared for their turn to "walk the runway".
They each got to choose their "princess name" and Lily chose Princess Sparkle. She was the only girl to choose to wear a hat and wore it through the whole fashion show and tea. A proper English girl.
Then they sat down to tea at a heart shaped table. They were served finger sandwiches, hot dog bites, and cheese pizza bites. They served their own tea (pink lemonade) out of tiny porcelain pots. On the way home Lily declared she wanted to have her birthday at Olivia's Tea room.
After the first party we returned home and had a bite to eat before gathering Kristen and Charlotte and heading out to cousin Reese's third birthday. She had a princess theme party and a real Cinderella arrived to entertain the guests. As you can see, Lily and Charlotte were hot and chose to recline in the chairs and watch.
Cinderella sure had a bag of tricks. She did stories with puppets, ribbons, magic show. You name it, this lady had it.
She was a one woman circus show. I think she might have actually been Cinderella's older sister...much, much older sister.
To top it all off they had a princess bounce house. Like they didn't get enough bouncing in the trampoline. We had a hard time even getting them out of there.
On Sunday, we needed a little down time after such an eventful Saturday. We joked to the kids that we should put them to work and wash the cars. They all screamed in excitement. I guess it doesn't take much to keep kids happy. So that is what we did!
It was the perfect weather for it. You were warm but didn't even get hot. Aren't you glad you drove 6 hours to come down and wash my car Kristen? At least we washed hers too!
Three little ladies!! Charlotte likes the "bra" swimsuits and Lily doesn't have a clue. I see a long future of pics like these.
What sunny afternoon is complete without a little sprinkler trampoline?
The right combo of fun and water.
Elias wanted nothing to do with the sprinklers but was a handy little car washer. He even gave his trucks a wash in the water table.
Kristen took the kids to her old neighbors house for the afternoon and evening so we re-grouped and prepared for more fun ahead!
