Last Dubai

Our last morning in Dubai we tried to sleep in and rest. We had breakfast in our hotel and then headed out to see the old town area with the souks. We stayed in a hotel closer to the airport since we had a super early morning departure the next day. We really missed our Double Tree Business Bay hotel and breakfast though!
We found you could take a short boat ferry ride across to the souks so even though it was 110 degrees out (not exaggerating) we braved the heat to see some sites.

The little boat ride was fun and only lasted about 10 minutes and cost about a dollar per person.
Once across the bay we went into the spice markets. The merchants are greeting you in the streets and practically force you into the stores. Considering the stores are air conditioned we didn't mind too much.
They are really pushy sales people and it is not my personal favorite when I feel like I am being forced or coerced into buying so we ended up with only a small amount of a mixed spice blend.
We wandered up and down the aisles of the souks.
Until we finally made it to the gold markets. There are jewelry shops lined up as far as you can see with flashy gold jewelry in the windows.
We went into a few stores to look, and cool off. We found a store named after the girls, Safari Gems.

Lily was fond of the diamond crusted kitty pendant.

After an hour or so we headed out of the heat to an indoor mall area that had restaurants. We had some lunch and wandered about the mall for a while. There are so many shops in Dubai it is astounding. They even had an Ikea and Carrefour. The girls enjoyed the shopping and we got a few things from Boots and Daiso before heading back to the hotel.
The girls needed to check out the hotel pool to cool off. We also packed up our loot from all our 7-11 raids in Dubai. We had to bring back some foreign treats for friends.
Up at 5am to head to the airport. Once last glance at Dubai before heading home.

We don't want to go home. Let's head south and go back to Africa again!
