Me and Gemma were very excited for Christmas to come. We couldn't wait! We were a bit nervous to do Acolyting for the Christmas eve church service, but it was very fun.
Here we are before the service, in front of a very large Christmas tree!
This is us lighting the Advent candles, one for each Sunday of December.
After church, as our tradition, me and Gemma exchanged our Christmas gifts for each other.
We also opened gifts from Aunty Rach and Uncle E.
Later on, it was dinner time. We had a lovely dinner made by Dad and Granny, and it was very delicious.
Here, Dad is lighting the Christmas Pudding. It is always so cool how the whole cake lights up blue.
Now, dinner is over and the cookies are set out for Santa, and carrots for the reindeer. Behind the plate, there is me & Gemma's letters to Santa.
And now it's time for bed. We got out the trundle and Gemma & me snuggled into bed while Dad reads us The Night Before Christmas.

Winsty gets to be the first one to see the tree with all the gifts. Plus he gets to say hello to Santa.
Up bright and early. But not TOO early. There was a 7am snooze mode. No waking parents until then.

We opened stockings while we waited for Granny and Grampy to come over. They stayed the night at Goppy's house in Simi so they were close by.

Once the whole gang was here we could get really into opening.
Gemma was super excited to get Nike Air Force shoes from Granny and Grampy. She got matching ones with Liv.

It was finally time to open to big gifts. Gemma got a Dell laptop. She has been using a refurbished super old one.
She was not too sure at first since she really asked for an Ipad Pro but quickly realized this was an awesome gift. She got a screen pen to go with it so it can be used like a tablet as well.

Lily was thrilled that she finally got a phone. A real one, not an itouch you can only use in the house.
Then they both promptly ignored us for the day.

I got a super fun pelican planter for my yard.
After all the Christmas festivities ended we still had fun on Winter Break. We had some sleepovers with Liv. Built their own fort in the living room.
We had New Years eve at home with a fun cheesy fondue and ringing in the New Year on NY time!

Holiday Fun Times

Guest Post by: Lily Davis

Liv and Gemma had the most wonderful time making cookies together at a playdate. They made many "Chocolate peppermint snowballs" for the whole family to enjoy.

These cookies did not last long, though. They were very delicious!
Our elf on the shelf, Rosie, is always in a new spot everyday! Today me and Gemma spied her riding an elephant. She has just arrived from the North Pole!
At my school, We did our lessons and carols chapel in front of the whole school. We played Christmas carols on the handbells, and recited bible verses to get ready for Jesus' birth.

Here, this is my class after doing chapel. From left to right, there's Angel, Colton B.,Colton M., Ellie, Me, Brooke, Harper, and Robbie.
Gemma and Liv had a gift exchange, Gemma got Liv some candy and some lotions from Bath & Body works. Liv got Gemma a sloth onesie, and Liv had one too so they could match. Liv also got Gemma some rings.
Today, we found our elf Rosie in a roll of paper towels!
And the next day, Rosie was "Sewing" a mini stocking on Mom's sewing machine.
One day we found her playing shuffle board with a stuffed Santa.
Brrr! We opened the fridge to a surprise today when we saw our elf inside our refrigerator. I hope she doesn't get too cold!
Rosie was making paper snowflakes today. Maybe she was trying to decorate our house, or maybe she missed the North Pole. Who knows?
We went over to Goppy's house to do some clearing out. Owen and Charlie drove down from Oregon to help us. We were happy to see them and hang out. We even had a little gift exchange.
What a night! Me and Gemma each invited a friend over for a Christmas event at the Moorpark zoo. It was called "Zoo lights". I brought Sophia and Gemma brought Liv.
We got to pose at some cool holiday boards for great pictures.
They even had this cool light wall and fake snow that was falling down on us.
The snow was actually small bits of bubbles and it was very thick at times, but it was fun all the same.
We even got to see the lion, since he usually sleeps or hides during the day when we come, but now we got to see him up close!
On this rainy December day, me and Gemma found Rosie taking a photo of two stuffed Santas. Maybe she was making a Tiktok!

Goppy's New Home

It was quite the hectic end to the year for Goppy.  She awoke in the middle of the night at home the week leading up to Thanksgiving and fell in her bedroom. Unfortunately she did not have a phone in her bedroom and had to crawl for 1.5 hours through the house to get to her phone in the kitchen. She called 911 and they brought her to Simi Hospital. She was diagnosed with a broken hip and had surgery two nights later, on Thanksgiving Eve.

After surgery she was transferred to Los Robles Rehab Hospital for further physical therapy. It became clear she could not live on her own in her home alone so Joel flew down from Oregon and he and I toured assisted living facilities.

After 14 days at Los Robles it was time to discharge to her new home, Belmont Village, in Thousand Oaks. Only the night before discharge her covid test came back positive and she was unable to move in. She ended up spending another 14 days in quarantine at the hospital.

While she was in the hospital Eric and Dan moved her furniture into her new home. Yes, they moved her furniture in the rain in an open trailer and truck.

We spent many, many hours sorting her belongings and helping her decide which of the 47 purses she owns she wanted to keep.
During her two week quarantine we got her room all set up and decorated it for the holidays.
She has a small living room and kitchenette and her bedroom. I think she may have pushed for the one bedroom instead of the studio for the closet space. This lady has a LOT OF CLOTHES and shoes.
Finally on Dec 23rd we were allowed to bust her out of rehab and take her to Belmont.
Happily planted in her recliner chair.
So far so good, it takes a lot of getting used to.
