NYC Day 2

We had big plans for our first full day in New York. We had booked the ferry ride to get to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. We had to get breakfast before the ferry and of course we knew we needed to get a classic NewYork Bagel.

Everything bagel with cream cheese, tomato and cucumber. They were HUGE! We had enough for breakfast and lunch.
The ferry was actually a fun time. It was a beautiful day and it was nice to see the New York skyline from the water as well as approach the statue from the water.

It was forecast for rain but so far we were getting really lucky not getting caught in the rain.
We had purchased tickets to go up to the pedestal of the statue which also allowed you in to see the museum about how the statue was built.

The original statue torch was replaced so the original is in the museum.
This is a mold of the actual face piece.
We didn't catch the rain yet but it was still warm and humid out. We needed to share a torch fresh squeezed lemonade.
Next up was a short hop over to Ellis Island. The girls learn a lot about coming to Ellis Island in school so it was really neat to come see it in person.  This is the great hall where immigrants were brought to line up and register.
Lily registered me and I think I was refused.
There was an audio tour through the museum.
After filling ourselves up with history and information we made our way back to Manhattan.

Once off the island we were beating the clock on the rain so we walked our way up to the fire station where they filmed Ghost Busters.
It is very cute and they definitely embrace the moment of fame.
Next up is the 9/11 Memorial and museum. It is even more somber in person but so moving. We did not plan to go in the museum and took our time walking around the Memorial and remembering.

Lily was determined we would head up to Time Square next. She heard wind they have a M&M store. Lucky for us the rain came pouring down when we were on the Subway so as we came to time square we ran for the store.

It was really cute and had a ton of tributes to NYC.
We got plenty of souvenirs and walked around Time Square a bit before we needed dinner.
Off Broadway we discovered Juniors restaurant which is famous for their cheesecake. We shared a club sandwich for dinner and saved room for raspberry cheesecake. Lily's choice!
