Gemma said she didn't want a birthday party, just dinner out with family and Liv. She just didn't know she wanted a birthday party!! We did a surprise at the mall after school on Friday.
We invited seven friends from middle school, plus one sister. These are girls from elementary and also from her soccer team last year. They are all in middle school together this year at Los Cerritos.
Then Saturday morning on her actual birthday she was up bright and early. She is always the first one up. Not much has changed since she was born. She is not a sleeper.
The menu was waffles with whipped cream. Lily had to get up for band practice so she was glad to have breakfast with the birthday girl before she had to leave.
We had yummy waffles with whipped cream and sprinkles on top. A great choice made by Gemma herself. topped with a cute crown and a pin to show off it was her birthday.While Lily was at band we got dressed for the day and took Sharkey's over to see Goppy. It was nice to see her on Gem's actual birthday and she loves Sharkey's.
Then finally by 5pm Lily was out of band and Granny and Grampy had come over to join us for dinner. Gemma was so eager to open up her gifts.
She got jewelry she had wanted, a tortilla blanket that you wrap up like a burrito.
She got a "preppy" hat and some crocs.
She was so pleased with all her gifts and got everything she had asked for.
Then we headed out for dinner. Gemma chose the Melting Pot which is a fondue restaurant. We started with cheese course which was a big hit. With the cheese we had veggies and bread yum.
It was a great meal and a fun experience.
It was great to have Liv along with us for the experience.
For dessert there was chocolate with all sorts of fun goodies to dip in. Fruit, cakes, and marshmallows.
They even gave Gemma a cute cake and sang Happy Birthday so much fun. A successful 12th birthday for Gemma!
We can't wait till next year she's almost a teenager
