Snow Day

The children had high hopes to get up to the snow this year. We didn't have any trips planned and although they would like to try skiing we didn't get organized enough to make it happen. That's why in a clutch you can drive for the day up to Wrightwood and play in the snow and drive home!

We had hoped to go with a group of friends but coordinating schedules didn't work out. We didn't want to miss our chance in the snow so we went on a random school holiday at the end of the trimester in January.
It was a well deserved break after finals week. Bonus there were very few people there.
It was certainly cold! There was plenty of snow although it had snowed, melted and iced over a few times so it was very slippery.
The weekend before was Presidents Day holiday and it looks like tons of people came. You could tell by the graveyard of plastic sled shards.
We also took snowball making very seriously. Need to recreate the snowball fight scene in the movie Elf.

Gemma was unstoppable. Taking higher tracks and faster routes.
Luckily we had some borrowed snow gear from cousins and our winter coats to keep us warm.

Band Banquet

To celebrate the end of Marching Band season and  honor all the accomplishments they hold a banquet for students and families.

They had a little photo booth set up before the dinner. A mini "box" from think outside the box theme made an appearance. Gemma has to get in on all the action
They served a pasta buffet dinner. It was in the cafeteria area just outside the performing art center.

The award ceremony included accomplishment awards the teachers gave out as well as funny awards the students voted on. It was mostly geared toward seniors but there are a few awards for the lower class levels. Lily was awarded the most improved in the brass section along with Anna. We were so proud of these girls. They really have come a long way and the hard work has paid off.
