YMCA Camp Sequoia - Gem sleep away camp

Emily, Gemma and Liv all decided to go to sleep away camp for a week together this summer. Emily has been to various camps before but it was their first time going to this one together.

Kerri and I drove them up together on Sunday for camp to begin. It is located on Lake Sequoia outside the north entrance the Sequoia National park. It was SO HOT on the drive up, like 109 through Bakersfield. Luckily the camp is higher up in the mountains and the big trees provide lots of shade.

They got bunks all together and the leader Amanda had the cabin decorated all cute. No bathroom in the cabin though!

They are bunking together in cabin 1A. There were about 12 girls in the cabin including their leader.

The camp did not look too big. There was a cabin of younger and one group of teen campers in both boys and girls.

This is their cabin group.

They went on a hike up to Ella falls on the Grant trail.

This was one of the very many meals they ate in the dining haul with their cabin group.
This was the rock wall that they climbed on one of the last days. It looks very high and scary, but Gemma still made it to the top which was great.

On one of the last nights they had a fancy dinner where your counselor had to escort you in. In this photo Gemma is standing next to one of her cabin friends named Zoe.

They had a huge group of kids come during session three and they all enjoyed the dance on the last night which is were they were in that picture. They all danced on the stage and hung out together.
The girls won a competition so their cabin group got to go first when they made s'mores. They s'mores look so delicious and the girls are happy to be having fun.

They swam in the lake almost everyday for many hours straight. The weather was amazing. They made so many friends like the boy next to them. They would chill in the lake for hours talking and having fun.
They got to end their amazing week at camp with the most beautiful sunset and hanging out with friends. I am so glad that the girls had such a good time at camp and maybe they will even go back next year.

Lily turns 15!

Lily didn't have a birthday party this year, since we were in Japan of course. Here, she received a Spotify Premium gift card for three months. Lily loves listening to her playlists on Spotify!
She still wanted a cake, so I let her choose one from the cookbook. She wanted a Chocolate Raspberry one.
Lily did the decorations on the cake, such a chocolate ganache and raspberrys.

We didn't have 15 candles, but she still got to blow them out and make a wish.
Heres what the inside layers of it look like! The cake was super yummy and was a great choice.
