Easter in the UK

For Spring break we made a trip across the pond to the UK to see Granny and Grampy!
We're pretty much experts at these flights now. Everyone tried to get a nap in and plenty of movies too.
We ordered up some sunshine for our arrival. Funny enough it was going to be a rainy stormy weekend back home over Easter weekend and we brought sunshine to the UK.
We got settled in at Pear Tree Cottage 2.0 and after a good night rest we were up to have a walk around the village. Well, Lily might have been sleeping still. She has a part time job sleeping in these days.
We took the scenic way to visit the butchers and pick up the lamb for Easter supper.
It was really hard to beat jet lag when there are so many cozy spots to cuddle up and nap.
Easter morning we woke up to all kinds of treats! The girls got easter bags and also giant chocolate bunnies.
I got some delicious treats too! My favorite percy pig gummies!
The hilarious joke of the weekend was poor Grampy's Easter egg had been hidden a little too well and it couldn't be located on Easter. He was very keen to see if Lily was going to share.
Gemma was pretty happy and Granny got a homemade Japanese apron so she looked extra bright and cheery for spring.
We had seen the fields of sheep and lamb on the way home from the airport so we wanted to go have a closer look at them. It seems a little bit rude since we were having lamb for supper.
We drove around a few local villages and couldn't help but stop to appreciate the hand crocheted decorations a village had on their post box.
Many villages have changed their old phone booths into little free libraries. It is such a great idea!
We found our field of sheep and lambs. They were curious as to what we were doing coming by to say hello.
It was muddy from all the recent rain and we didn't have any wellies.

After our drive we came back home and decided to have an afternoon drink at the pub. All the village blooms look so fresh and bright!
Even though it was a sunny spring it was still very brisk!

Spring Spruce Up

After ignoring much needed house projects for several years we finally bit the bullet and decided to tackle a project. New flooring. Well, one project leads to another and if we were getting new flooring to made sense to do any painting first so as not to ruin nice new floors.
The living room was the main project. I wanted to pain the darker color to make it match the hallway and entryway and lighten it up. After many trips to the hardware store to match the color of the hall it was finally underway.
Then of course Gemma chimed in that she wanted to paint her room to a gray color. As a teen she was not fond of the lavender color. So one paint job turned into two.  Gemma is a good painter though and she helped a lot.

Well, since Gemma was getting new paint we told Lily it was now or never. She didn't like her yellow wall and wanted to have purple since that is her favorite color.
I tried to convince them to just swap rooms since that would solve all the color problems but no.

Once all the painting was quickly finished the new flooring was all ready to be installed. We got wood type vinyl flooring for the hallway and living room.
The rest of the rooms got new carpet. Of course it was a huge ordeal because we had to move all the furniture. Then the old flooring removal left such a HUGE MESS of dust. We spent a whole weekend getting it all ready and then a whole weekend cleaning the house from top to bottom. I guess our spring cleaning is done!

Gem Life Lately

Gemma has had some fun opportunities in the new year. She was invited with Liv to be an extra in a TV pilot through a family friend of theirs. They went to the shoot location in the valley after school one afternoon. They played teen girls that were getting snacks at a liquor store and react to the main characters.
They didn't have any lines but they did get close up shots and they get to attend the premiere when the pilot is ready.

She also got to have a snow day with her best friends for Liv's birthday. Kerri took the four girls up to Mountain High to sled for the day and then home for a sleepover.
Savannah, Mia, Liv and Gemma have so much fun together.
It even snowed while they were up there.
