All District Band Festival

Conejo Valley School District does an annual band concert that includes Elementary, Middle, and High school bands from all the district schools. Lily participated in Elementary and then due to covid it was cancelled during middle school. This is her first year back and we were so excited to return. She was less excited to participate in the long, all day event after school that day. 

We eagerly got in line at the civic arts plaza to get our seats. We sent her a selfie so she could see how excited we were. 

She sent us this "selfie" back which was her view from the stage. 

The musicians from all the different schools take a long time to organize on stage. 

There is our Lily all the way in the back with Westlake High Honor Bands. 

The Elementary played a few numbers, followed by middle school, and then it was time for the High School band to shine! They really are exceptional musicians. 

The finale was the "Star Spangle Banner" Played by all the students. They did a great job!

We wrapped up the band season with the banquet which had lots of awards and senior tributes.

Lily was recognized for her second year participation in band and also for her role on regiment leadership. 

Gemma Honor Awards

Gemma's school, Los Cerritos, does awards night in the Spring for students who have high grades (95% or higher for the year) and teachers feel their participation and behavior deserve recognition. 

Gemma received notice she would be getting an award and should attend.

There are so many students that get awards this is only 6th and 7th grade.

Gemma was announced for receiving an award in Wood Shop and got her certificate and got to shake the Principals hand. 

Gemma has loved being in wood shop as her elective this year. Mr Hanson, her teacher, has apparently loved having her as well. We are so proud of her and we know Grampy will be extra proud too. The Davis DIY genes have passed on!!!
