So Long, CHLA

 

After 10 years at Children's Hospital it was time to say goodbye. I'm not sure it was much of a "good" bye, as the hospital was forced to restructure and let go over 400 employees.

One of our management, Nancy, had been at Children's for 57 years!

We were given 24 hours notice that our department was going to be closed and our staff would be given the option to bid for a new position in a different area, with different hours, roles, and pay. 

Brittany, Bea and I, with our department sign before we said good bye. Brittany and I were both working part-time hours and decided not to accept the bid for different jobs at full time hours only,

There were many sad good bye festivities, that didn't feel very festive.

Our manager was also restructured out of a job after working there 40 years. She decided to take retirement. So after the dust settled we had a retirement/reunion gathering outside of work. 

It was good to have a relaxing gathering and remember the fond memories. 

I will miss my co-workers, Bea most of all, and I will really miss the children. 

Luckily I hit the ground running right away in a job search and found a role closer to home with better hours and still working part-time. I have my own office too! Employee Health Nurse.

At Motion Picture Fund in Calabasas. There is a LOT of paperwork and it is all adults, I really do miss kids. 

I give a lot of vaccines and sometimes with a beautiful view of Hollywood. We have a small lab that we test employees for Flu, Covid and RSV, to protect the residents in senior living. 

It's not very exciting but the hours are good and my manager is wonderful. 

Fall Vibes

Band season means that Fall is jam packed and doesn't leave a lot of time for other activities. Luckily the girls squeezed in a trip to a pumpkin patch with Avery and Ellie.

 

The giant field of Sunflowers was a picture perfect dream. The girls brought cameras and took lots of aesthetic photos. 

Gemma even bought a bouquet of Sunflowers for me! One of my favorite flowers. 

HOCO for Gems

Gemma got to experience Homecoming this year. She wasn't sure she wanted to go but her friends were going so she decided to give it a shot. 

 

We found a really cute dress and of course gave her hair a blow out.

She looked beautiful!

Her friend group which includes her Ascension friends and a couple of other private school kids who all found each other in High School.They had dinner at Lily's house first and went to the dance all together.

They met up with more friends at the dance. It was loud and loud and really crowded. Gemma had enough by about the second hour.  She was ready to come home and take her Cinderella slippers off.
